WHO I AM
Hi I’m Rachel, a 15 year old activator @TKS interested in agritech, quantum computing and the future of food. I am super passionate about using agritech to improve agricultural productivity in developing countries. My life goal is to contribute to solving poverty and world hunger, and to help ensure that one day every single human being on the planet will have enough to eat. I am currently working on a project to create a transgenic strand of maize that can provide food for millions more people by being pest resistant, heat tolerant, drought tolerant, and producing 3X larger yields. For the past year I have been researching how to bring my idea to life, and have talked to countless experts in the field. After creating a step by step plan of this strand of maize, I am testing out my idea in the lab this summer.
I am also the co-host and creator of the TechnoGypsie Podcast, a STEM podcast where we talk with experts in different emerging STEM fields about the field they are in, and how to use the technology to create a positive change in the world. If I’m not writing articles, making YouTube videos, reading research papers or networking with professionals, then I am outside running. I am an ultra runner obsessed with pushing my limits and discovering what I am truly capable of. Whether it’s skiing, rock climbing, kayaking, hiking, or kayaking, I am in my element when I’m outside in my beautiful home of Northern Ontario.
